The 2021 Tunnocks Flotilla is a fundraising flotilla for the RNLI to be held on Monday May 31st. (a holiday). It is brought to you by the Boating clubs on the Clyde, coordinated by the Clyde Cruising Club.
It will not (this year) be a socialising on shore event, and no shoreside activity is planned.
The preceeding three days will be the Scottish Series, being held on the Clyde this year, so this will be a full weekend on the water.
Open to all boats, membership of any club not a requirement, this is a FREE event.
Donations are encouraged by all participants to the RNLI, on the dedicated JustGiving page ...click here.
The flotilla will have two muster points, a north one off Gourock, (for those starting in the upper Clyde) and a south one off Kip (for those coming from points south). Aim to be there before 2pm.
At 2pm we will have a combined noise (hooter, horn, yelling, bagpipes... but please NO FLARES) and three cheers for the RNLI. This will be announced over VHF radio.
The RHYC are organising a west coast gathering near Oban at the same time.
Tunnocks are sponsoring the activity by donating a goody box to participants, and these can be collected from various departure points, mainly marinas and boatyards. (You register your boat name and departure point on the Just Giving page).
Boats are encouraged to voyage from their departure points outside the main shipping lanes to the nearest muster point to arrive ready between 1 and 2pm.
The RNLI didn't stop saving lives in 2020, even though many didn't get out sailing. But their donations were well down for the year. Its an expensive thing to keep a fleet of lifeboats maintained and fuelled for the volunteer crews. Please help us to help them. Even if you can't come and join the spectacle, you could still donate.
