racing classes to retain a perfect scoreline of four firsts from four
starts.
That scoreline is matched only in the Restricted Sail class where
David Sinclair's Sigma 38 has also won all four races. While de Mulder
and his crew again stayed on top of the regular shifts and changes in
velocity of the 6-10knot mainly easterly breeze, shaking off the
attentions of Keith Miller's Swan 46 Crackerjack which suffered when
the winds died slightly, it was the 14 strong 1720 Cork One Design which
had the most demanding day as they squeezed in three races.
Three boats now share a 13 point aggregate - with Charlie Frize's
Clyde based The Big L credited with the overall lead after they won the
final race of the day. With third place in that race the Howth boat
After Midnight owned by Tommy and John Murphy and steered by Melges
UK champion Rob Smith lies second, with Proctor Winning Masts helmed
by Kevin Sproul in third also on 13 points.
Almost as tightly contested is the Sigma 33 fleet where Alan Milton's
Pepsi and Harold Hood's
Odyssey are also locked on 13 points after Odyssey scored a 2-1-4
while Pepsi finished second to Odyssey in the second race today and
landed two fifth places.
Defending Scottish Series Trophy winner Graham Campbell has
moved from the Sonata class to aid the series campaign of Brian
McLean's Flare 25 Aggro 2. The combination is proving potent so far
as Aggro 2 leads Class 6, while Murray Caldwell the current Clyde
Master Helm has taken over where Campbell left off in the Sonata
class, as he has not finished out of the top two yet.
