Tarbert Scottish Seriess 1998

Saturday Press Report

Saturday's racing at the Tarbert Scottish Series again enjoyed firm breezes making for a fine day on the water.

After two races, only a handful of yachts have a clean sweep of firsts. They are John Fowler's Sigma 38 'Moonshine IV' in CHS Cruiser class 2, Graham Campbell's 'Kooshtie' in the National Sonata Class, 'Ian Cleaver's 'Clapped Out Toy Boy' in Sportboat Class 1, and Tommy Murphy's 'After Midnight' in the new Cork 1720 Class.

In class 1 Eric de Mulder's 'Victric 4' added a second place to her first race win, and in the highly competitive Class 1 the leader at this early stage is Jonathan Anderson's 'Duckwall Pooley', a genuine cruiser racer that is showing some more race orientated yachts a clean pair of heels.

In the 26 strong Sigma 33 class Allan Hogg's 'Boojum' leads former winner 'St Joan' by a few points, but in this close quarter class it's not all over until the final gun of the last race.

The series continues until Tuesday, and full results of each race are available on the Clyde Cruising Club website: www.clyde.org.
