Sportboat Launching and Recovery Instructions

FIXED KEEL BOATS

Crane
J. McLachlan, Lochgilphead, will provide a 25 ton crane on the Knuckle (at the Village end of the Fish Quay) at the following times:-

   Friday 23rd 1000hrs - 1900hrs
   Tuesday 27th 1200hrs onwards

Cost will be £40 per lift + £10 if the mast has to be crane stepped or unstepped. Please pay Mr McLachlan in cash or cheque at the time of lifting. Please note that boats will be dealt with on a "first come first served" basis.

Marshalling Area
Pier Road, East of the Portavadie Ferry slip, has been designated as the Marshalling Area where boats are prepared for either launching or trailing; there will be signs indicating this. An official will advise competitors when they may proceed to the Knuckle.

Empty Trailer Parking
Trailers to be parked in the Industrial Estate opposite the Church. Follow the signs.

Launching
It is important that launching and mast stepping is done quickly and the Launching Officer reserves the right to abort work on a boat if this is being done in a time wasting fashion.

After launching trailers must clear the knuckle promptly and make their way to the trailer park.

Lifting Out
Empty trailers should park in the Marshalling Area and will be called to the Knuckle when their boat is ready to lift out. Preparing the boat for trailing should be done away from the Knuckle.

LIFTING KEEL BOATS

These may be launched and recovered at the Yacht Club slip. Keep Ferry Slip clear at all times.

No boats and/or trailers can be parked in the village from Barmore Road 30mph sign to the Ferry Slip without incurring the wrath of the Traffic Police.

Clyde Cruising Club and Tarbert Enterprise Company, or any person representing those organisations, accept no responsible for any damage, loss or any other mishap that may occur during before or after craning.

Owners, or their representatives, are responsible for slinging even if they are using McLachlan's slings. Usual crane conditions of insurance apply.
