Welcome to the CCC Racing
pages Season 2008 Within the next few weeks the CCC
web site will be undergoing a full renovation to become a more dynamic and
interactive site. Until the change is made we will be keeping the web site
information to the basic facts for dates and races. If you have any
specific information which you cannot find on the web site please feel
free to email myself, Ian Thomson, at the email address shown
below. Season 2008 will again provide both action packed
sailing along side the most comprehensive social calendar the club has
ever been able to provide. Below are the details of each
race with information on the social and race aspects of the event.
A link will be provided for the next event as and when they
arise which will give the full Sailing Instructions. I hope to see you all
on the water for a season of great Clyde racing. Ian Thomson

dates to set in your calendar, as an absolute must for the Bell Lawrie
Scottish Series held at Tarbert Loch Fyne. This year, with new improved
social including a 5 aside football tournament open to boat teams, tug of
war and many other on shore social activities to match the fun on the
water this will make this year one to remember. This year is also the
inaugural year for the Scottish Round The Islands Race which will be a
prize worth winning and gives a special importance to the CYCA home based
fleet who are critical to the future of Clyde racing. With inbound races
from Ireland and The Clyde together with 4 days of great racing and social
in Tarbert there is no better value regatta in the UK. PDF version for printing can be download

26 TH
JUNE/ 29 TH JUNE North Channel and Zigeuner Races sees
a return to Bangor, another great chance to test yourself on a race
to Ireland. Go get a Guinness and race in company of the CCC Fleet. Go on.
Go on, Go on stretch those of offshore legs a bit. The social at RUYC is
worth the trip. These races form part of the new CCC mini Offshore
Championship. Last year 18 boats made the trip to Bangor the largest
Scottish Race fleet in many years, they know what’s good for them, why
don’t you give it a go. PDF
version for printing can be download from this link.
11 TH JULY
The Blue Water Trophy race makes a welcome return with a trip to Brest,
France. My previous experience of sailing in this part of the world is the
hospitality and foods are well worth sailing the 600 miles for. The race
begins off Largs on the evening of Friday 11th July and the next time you
set foot on land it will be in France where you can relax in the sun and
enjoy a bowl of mussels and a glass of wine or two. If you want to sail to
the sun then this is the best way to go. For those who are thinking of
going can you please contact Hazel at the CCC office to allow us to build
a picture of how many intend to race down. PDF version for printing can be
download from this link.
18,19 and 21 ST JULY is the classic
Tobermory Weekend including The Round The Mull Race Sponsored by
McKiness Gardner Architechts Always a classic race with the chance to get
into The western isles with a purpose. This years first leg again has the
option to sail the famous. PDF

"Round The
Mull" course. The 2nd leg start will again be Craobh Haven with a social
event in the planning. Just think easy to change the crews and reach the
bar. PDF version for
printing can be download from this link.
16/17 TH AUGUST after
the summer break brings the Troon Race Weekend Sponsored by
Yacht Havens, Scotts Bar and West Coast Marine The success of
last years event with nearly 40 boats making the trip down the coast to
Troon has marked this as an absolute must for most boats this year. With a
“spit roast” and drinks reception and a heated tent the fleet enjoyed a
great night of entertainment thanks to the race sponsors. The race is
placed with dates to allow yachts to return from the Western Highlands
after summer holidays. The race runs from Port Bannatyne to
Troon with course, which is more direct than last year’s diversions.
The event is shaping up to be a “Not to be Missed” weekend. The
Yacht Haven Group are again sponsoring a marquee, a drinks reception is
being sponsored by Scotts Bar and Restaurant, West Coast Marine are again
putting up their beautiful trophy. This race is an open race which
can be entered by members of any RYA affiliated club. PDF version for printing can be
download from this link.
On 6th of SEPTEMBER the
Tighnabruaich Pursuit Race Sponsored by Euroyachts Last year saw another
big turnout for this event. A repeat of the destination with the race
finish at Colintraive and a new social event in the planning which will be
announced on the CC web site soon. It’s a great fun race with no
spinnakers for any Class and no crowded start lines. Come and give it a
try, this is racing with a difference. PDF version for printing can be
download from this link.
The 13 TH and 14th of SEPTEMBER are
the dates which have the biggest change for the CCC Calendar. A new
event called the GSS CCC North Clyde Regatta sponsored by Garelochhead
Support services. This event is set to be the way to see the season out
with a bang and not a whimper. Two days of intensive racing with 6 races
over the two days and a lively evening social all in the planning. The
fleet will be based out of Rhu Marina where a discounted berthing rate is
being negotiated with the on shore social and food planned in the Rhu
area. The fleet will race within the East and West patch areas and is to
be opened up to allow any class and fleet captains to approach the CCC and
request a class start. There will be racing for IRC, CYCA, One Design and
a passage race class for those wishing not to fly the kite. GSS and the
CCC are looking forward to seeing you all at Rhu, make it a date. PDF version for printing can
be download from this link.
27/28 TH SEPTEMBER It’s the
closing muster Rothesay-Tarbert Race sponsored by “Charter for You” A big
turnout always sees this race as a favourite way to end the season with a
gathering in Tarbert. Last year was one of the best sails of the season
with fair winds and the elusive sunshine. This is the last chance for
championship points and is always an exiting day. This year again the CCC
extend a warm welcome to the members of Farlie Yacht Club this should be
an end of season bash to remember. PDF version for printing can be
download from this link.
The offshore series will run again this year with
sufficient mileage being attained for those yachts wishing to qualify for
the ORC Fastnet and other ORC Offshore
racing.
