| The preparation of Sailing Directions for cruising yachtsmen has always been one of the principal aims of the Clyde Cruising Club. The original Directions, dealing with just the Clyde, were printed as part of the the Club’s first annual Journal in 1910. Since then they have been expanded to cover the Scottish coast from the Solway Firth to Peterhead, including the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. For many years the Directions were published in a single volume known affectionately as ‘The Blue Bible’ but in the 1970’s, with the addition of new areas and extended coverage, a change was made to A4 format and they were published as six separate books. Since 2003 they have all been extensively revised in full colour with many additional anchorages, plans and photographs. Over the years they have become widely recognised as valuable and authoritative pilotage guides to the unrivalled cruising waters which the Club is privileged to enjoy and share with visiting yachtsmen. Since the early days the emphasis has always been on publishing pilotage information as clearly and concisely as possible. All the essential facts, distilled from a hundred years experience of preparing Sailing Directions, are presented in a simple format for quick reference when underway. Clearly drawn plans, using familiar colours and emphasising the principal features, are placed close to the relevant text. Spiral binding, stiff covers and stout paper make the books ideal for cockpit use. The C.C.C. Sailing Directions may be purchased from chandlers or direct from the Club’s office. One of the links below enables the contents and typical pages of each book to be examined and the other link downloads a full list of all amendments. All books are £25.00 each including p&p. (UK Only). The Club can be contacted by telephone on 0141 2212774, fax 0141 2212775 or e-mail the Club Administrator.
