The Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series

Scotland's Premier Sailing Event at Scotland's Greatest Natural Harbour

Tarbert Harbour

A particularly attractive natural harbour used for sailing ships over more than a thousand years, Tarbert on Loch Fyne annually hosts Clyde Cruising Club's 'Brewin Dolophin Scottish Series', which has become Scotland's biggest yachting event, and second indeed, in Britain's waters, only to Cowes Week.

Tarbert Harbour

The picturesque West Highland village of Tarbert is well equipped for this major event, with permanent pontoons and moorings, Showers and Toilets at both sides of the harbour, Sailmakers and Chandlers, and a wide variety of places to eat and socialise after events whether you're taking part of / or just visiting to soak up the atmosphere. The Harbourmaster and his team are kept at full stretch marshalling the 300 or so boats, which take part in events. Accommodation can be in big demand at this time, so an Accommodation Helpline will help you to make your arrangements, though there is a very big range to choose from to suit all needs, within a short drive.

Always dramatic, the waters around Kintyre are not always calm and peaceful, even in so temperate a climate. Sometimes the Atlantic shows it has teeth too

During the series, there is a range of competitive events on high class, professionally designed courses, foe everything from Family Cruisers to Grand Prix Racers, meaning that many types of boats, and many different levels of skill can be seen in action. Social events are organised, adding to the atmosphere, making the Series memorable, and highly popular, for all concerned.

But Tarbert has much else to offer too, with its own 9-hole Golf Course, just one of five in Kintyre, which include the magnificent Championship links at Machrihanish. Kintyre is exceptionally rich in Wildlife, and has some of Scotland's best sandy beaches too.

There are numerous walks, excellent Trekking facilities, and some world class archaeological and historical sites. Other events taking place at this time include the Golf Pro-Am at Machrihanish, and the Jaeger Factory Sale at Campbeltown. So much to enjoy at Tarbert.

Marching Pipers

For visitors to the event, lies 2 hours from Glasgow by car on the A83 via Loch Lomond and Inveraray, or just 1 hour from Oban on the A816 through Lochgilphead. Kintyre is well served by Ferries too. You will certainly enjoy the scenery on the journey, but a fine view of events will greet you on Loch Fyne.

The event has an Accommodation Helpline to help you to find somewhere suitable to stay at this popular time, and the Tourist Information Centre in Tarbert has general information. Check out our accommodation page for more details.
