The 2011 season is a distant memory and the trohies have been awarded. There were some very close results with the results for several classes being decided in the Rothesay - Tarbert Race. Many congratulations to all the prize winners, especially Sloop John T, who won the John Rodger Trophy in recognition of their overall victory at the Swan European Championships at Cowes. Closer to home, Polaris won the Tomatin Trophy for the best performance in the Inshore Championship and Tartan Pimpernel won the Sinbad Family Trophy.
Attention is now turning to the 2012 season and our racing programme is now in place. It has a familiar look to it, but there are some changes. The biggest change is that the Ailsa Craig Race is out on its own as an overnight race in early May. The Ladies' & Juniors' race, which has a new destination of Port Bannatyne marina, has moved to the last weekend in May to reduce the fixture congestion in June. The fixture congestion has been compounded this year by the late May holiday weekend being replaced by the Jubilee Holiday in June. The Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series will be taking place over the Jubilee holiday weekend on the 1st to 4th June.
The full programme is as follows:
21st April - Bute Race to Largs
22nd April - Windward/leeward races at Largs
28th April - Opening Muster to Rhu
11th May - Ailsa Craig Race
26th May - Ladies' & Juniors' Race to Port Bannatyne
1-4th June Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series
23-24th June - Arran Trophy Weekend to Rothesay
28th June- 1st July - North Channel Race & Zigeuner Trophy to Bangor
13th July - Round the Mull race
14th - 16th July - Tobermory Race
18th - 19th August - Troon Race
15th-16th September - CCC GSS North Clyde Regatta at Rhu
22nd September - Rothesay - Tarbert Race
Some of our races have very low turnouts and we are considering whether to continue with these beyond 2012, so if you have a race that you really don't want to lose, tell all your friends to come out next year, or it may not be there in 2013!
