The Proposed Cruises 2010

As this a special year, our Centenary, I would welcome all new and old members to join in  what is going to be a not to be missed season of musters and cruises where we can enjoy sailing the West Coast of Scotland. All members are encouraged to fly their CCC Centenary burgee at all time`s during the season.

Opening Muster
1 – 2 May

The Opening Muster for the 2010 season will again be held at Rhu Marina with the social gathering on Saturday 2nd May being held in the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Clubs premises in Rhu.  As in previous years, a buffet will be served in the clubhouse and it is hoped that even if you didn’t participate in the race itself, that you will still be able to attend the dinner, where all will be welcome.

Booking for this popular event is essential so please contact the Clyde Cruising Club Administrator, Hazel for further details.

This will be followed the next morning in the R.N.L.I. boathouse at the Marina by the not to be missed Commodore’s Bacon Butty Breakfast accompanied by Buck’s Fizz.  This is a popular event and everyone is welcome. A collecting for the R.N.L.I will be taken

May Cruise
Friday 7th – Sunday 16th May 2010

7th May -  Muster at Rothesay Harbour, where we shall finalise plans for the following week.  It is proposed depending on weather, to perhaps visit the marinas at Ballycastle and/or Port Ellen on Islay where there is good berthing on the pontoons.  This will be a leisurely cruise for new and seasoned members, fostering the traditions of the Clyde Cruising Club and it is hoped there will be a good number of boats in attendance.

Ladies/Juniors Race Weekend
19 June

The plan is to muster at the new Marina in Rothesay Harbour on the Friday evening, prior to the race from Port Bannatyne to Colintraive, allowing us to enjoy the facilities of Rothesay as did our founders in 1910. All members invited whether racing or cruising

This year, we are reverting to the original venue of Wreck Bay at the head of the Kyles where we will be more assured of shelter should the weather turn inclement.  A B.B.Q  will be held on the shore accompanied by wines, beers and hopefully not the midges!

On the Sunday morning, weather permitting, a sherry party will be held, with possibly some games/races on the beach for the younger members

N.B. If members are considering joining in this fun weekend it would be helpful if they could contact me (Clive Reeves) or office, to enable us to organise enough food and drink.

Summer Cruise
17 - 30 July

 CCC Centenary Logo

Full details of the Cruise in Company from Ardfern to Oban via Tobermory, Loch Drumbuie and Vatersay are given under the Centenary Tab of this web site.

If any participants would like advice on intermediate stops then please contact the Cruising Secretary, Clive Reeves

Loch Spelve Muster
Saturday 7 – 8 August

Once again, the very popular muster at Loch Spelve on the east coast of Mull combines stunning scenery with a very special B.B.Q.

The cruising committee will ensure that the catering and refreshments are of the usual high standards.  In previous years, Douglas Wilson of Inverlussa shellfish has kindly provided fresh mussels which will accompany the usual B.B.Q. fare.  Last year we enjoyed facilities of his yard, which made landing from dinghies easier and gave better conditions underfoot.

Centenary Sail Past, Rothesay
11-12 September 2010

Cruising from Rhu, Kip and Largs on Saturday, ceilidh at Rothesay then sail past and Muster at Kyles of Bute on Sunday. Just as our fore fathers did in 1910.

See the Centenary tab for details nearer the time.

Closing Muster, Tarbert
Saturday 25 September 2010

This is undoubtedly the most popular Race/Cruise to the sheltered harbour of Tarbert on Loch Fyne – the final bash before battening down the hatches for the winter ahead!
There is now ample berthing at the new pontoons.

At 17.00hrs there will be the usual pontoon party.  (The noise of revelry will draw you there!)
Afterwards, there will be a dinner in the Tarbert Hotel.
Booking for this popular event is essential so please contact the Clyde Cruising Club Administrator, Hazel for further details and book early to avoid disappointment.
