Crewing Opportunities

Every year we get enquiries from all over from owners looking for crew for a cruise or to help as part of their campaign in our Championship series. There is also a huge pool of talent of Dinghy Section members who are available and willing to crew on keelboats to increase their experience. If you are looking for crew and can offer a berth or you are looking for a berth for the summer or for occassional sailing please contact the webmaster  or Club Administrator in the office to have your details included here.

I am a very experienced  hill runner, with over 122 hill races completed since 2005 with a good  finishing record for  all races entered.
I have excellant navigational skills both in the hills and on  the water with RYA certificates gained over the last 20 years.
I have a partner available to compete as a  mixed running team and am looking for a yacht and crew  who would be willing undertake this challenge with the emphasis on enjoyment and completing the challenge safely .

I am a 22 year old female and a Solent racer first and foremost, most recently on foredeck or navs for a King40, though I have sailed in many different yachts. I am a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore with something like 3000nm logged in cruising and many more racing. I am living in Scotland until the end of December and don't want to miss out on the end of the season racing. My family is originally from Skelmorlie, so I have sailed in the Clyde when I was younger. I am quite happy placed in any position on a yacht, as I have had at least a little experience on all of them at some point!! I am a keen sailor, enthusiastic and fun loving and always put my heart and soul into everything I do.

I have a weeks holiday starting July 9th 2011 and would like to go sailing. Done plenty of sailing (ex Navy as well - if that's any use!). Also have Day Skipper Ticket, previous racing experience (grinding, foredeck and a bit of Nav). Little rusty though.Enjoy pitching in and doing my bit, can even help with any maintenance or galley duties ( make nice bread so I'm told ). I would really like to join your sailing club and become involved in crewing, after recently developing a passion for sailing when abroad. I learned how to sail in january last year in Perth, Australia, and I spent every weekend I could involved in crewing on mostly keel boats over 30 foot (similar to J/105s) over the last year. When crewing in Perth I developed experience in handling spinnakers as well as learning how effective teamwork could improve tacking and gybing. Frazer McKenzie

19 year old based in Aberdeen looking to race on the Clyde. I have raced on various boats at local club level ranging from 30 to 40 ft, raced in WHYW 3 years on a Sigma, Granada and  X-34. Have around 5k miles logged and another 5k+ unlogged. I will be able to race weekend or longer if I can receive notice a few weeks in advance. Susan Scott

Based in Cumbernauld and looking for crew position, either keel boat racing, or cruising on the West Coast. (I'm not as supple as I used to be for dinghies...).

Quite happy sailing in the colder months, so if you need crew now, I'm available as I am not working at the moment.

Would love to be involved in Scottish Series again and West Highland Week. Have around 6,000 miles logged and have Competent Crew, Day Skipper (theory), STCW95, Sea Survival, Dinghy Level 2, Power Boat Level 1 + 2 and I am a volunteer on the Clyde Challenger. Took part on Leg 1 of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race back in 07/08 from Liverpool to Brazil.

I am keen sailor from Sligo, Ireland with 19 years dingy and cruiser sailing experience under my belt and I will be based in Glasgow for the 2011 season. I was an Irish Sailing Association qualified instructor and have been involved with and run courses for beginners through to advanced sailors for over 5 seasons in numerous clubs in Ireland.  The majority of my sailing experience has been in Mirrors and 420’s and in the last number of years I have been an active member of a crew on a 747 one design, sailing in numerous competitions around Ireland. I am available from April onwards, evenings and weekends and am happy to sail/race both dinghies and keelboats.
