Junior Member's Blog

The Webmaster was taken to task in that there is no section of the Club website where Cadets can spread news of their involvement in Club activities.

Well it looks as if it is all down to the crew of Tartan Pimpernel to let us know what they have been up to and what works and what doesn't work for them.

I know there must be other kids out there desperate to tell us what they have been up to. Drop me a line or two at webmaster@clyde.org and if you have a picture to show us - that would be great too!

Here is the second instalment from Ludovic who has now been joined by his older sister Abigail in letting us know what Team TP have been up to.

Abigail writes:

"I really enjoyed the Centenary Sail Past last weekend. It was really nice to get together with other kids the same age as me and it was a good idea to have a table specifically for the Junior Members. We had a lot of fun at the dance and I am really looking forward to seeing them again at other sailing events. It would be good if there was a meeting place for us at other musters.

On Sunday, it was lovely to see the whole fleet of Clyde Cruising Club boats motoring up the Kyles and dipping their Ensigns to the Commodore and then at anchor in Wreck Bay. The highlight for my brother was getting a ride in the rib."

Ludovic updates us with:

"I did the first leg of the Tobermory race with my Dad and two other old guys - Mast and Ian MacPherson. It was really windy at times and we all worked really hard. We went through the canal, Ian went home and my Mum, my sister and her friend Lucy Tremble did the second leg with us. There was hardly any wind sometimes and we had to try hard at staying really still.  We had the kite up and down so many times trying to get any puff of breeze. Mast made a good call and we took the right course to get some wind. I was really pleased because we managed to come second in each leg and win our class.

The Sunflower was awesome and the sun even came out so we went in swimming. We met upwith other junior members there and buzzed about in dinghies around the sun. I got to sail and helm a GP14 dinghy which was great and I tried out some of the stuff I had learned at Bardowie.

I am looking forward to the closing muster this weekend and hope lots of other juniors will be there."

Ludovic says:

"The race was great. There were a lot more boats than last year. The beat was good but the run was disappointing because there was not much going on. I was sorry that I couldn't make it to the barbeque on saturday night as I heard the burgers were so nice. I loved the rowing races on the Sunday. It was good to meet up with my friends. I am looking forward to the Tobermory race and the cruise. I hope you guys write stuff on the blog too.

Who else is going on the cruise? Let us know?"

Here is MC for the day John Douglas giving the crew of Zubenubi heart failure for using her as a mark in the rowing race. Use some T-Cut Barrie!

So, Tartan Pimpernel has thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the younger members of the Club. If you have something to say or a special cruise or race that you took part in - send an email with details to the webmaster@clyde.org Pictures are good too!
